Shop Local: miles + ozzie

As most of you know, I like to keep my dollar in my community by shopping locally whenever I can, and I especially like supporting fellow artists. I love buying something unique, I love the quality and craftsmanship that goes into something handmade, so I thought over the next few weeks I will post about other artists to help you with your Holiday shopping! I mean, just in case jewellery wasn't the ONLY thing on your shopping list

So today, I want to introduce you to my friend Erin of miles + ozzie She is a super sweet sewing queen! She makes beautiful modern baby blankets, adorable stuffed guys/monsters (that her sons sometimes help to design)

 and tasty looking felt food.

You can check her out in the link below - Happy Shopping!

Outside...all day!

Today was the nicest day we've seen this year - and we celebrated by being outside ALL DAY! Except of course for nap time. We started the day out going to the park in the morning, Grant & Cash played at the park while I went for a run. By the time Cash got up from his nap, it was still beautiful out, so we went back outside to play with his 'cars'. This refers to a few ride on toys and his bike. He's really really really into Disney Cars right now (I can't tell you how many times I've watched this movie - I could probably recite the entire thing) anyway he constantly repeats the words of Lightening McQueen "I. am. speed." and nothing is fast enough.  So he decided to 'work' on them and make them faster, all the while chanting 'I. am. speed.' It was a site to see.
Working on his car.

Pushing it up on the grass to get a better look.

Maybe the bike will be faster.

or not - better work on that too.

Finally some speed, almost fell off!

How did you spend this beautiful day?

I'm not a lover of Valentine's Day.

I can't help it. I just hate it. I think we can all appreciate the loves in our lives on our own.  I don't like getting sucked into the consumerism of it all. Anyway, we all have our own opinions right? However I did get a sweet Valentine today. Technically from my mom, but meant to be from Cash. How sweet is this? My son on the left and his two cousins.

It was a great skate!

For those wondering, we took him skating, on actual ice, over the weekend. It was good fun, he really liked it (unless he was on his bum) but otherwise I think we have a skater on our hands. If you plan to take your toddler skating, remember their attention spans are quite small.  Even 3 & 4 year olds that I teach through the city we only keep on the ice for 20 minutes to a half hour, and most don't make it the full half hour. Also, for the first time, don't stress if they don't take any actual steps, the ice surface is all brand new to them, so give them time to get their feet used to the new slippery surface.

Put him on the ice? at two?

So I've been thinking about taking C skating for the first time, being a skater my whole life (and now a skating coach), I'm excited to get him started.  But C is a very cautious little guy, so I've been hesitant, I don't want to scare him off. However, after today, I think I'll get him out there as soon as I can.

I'm not sure if he'll like it so much once he hits the ice, but we're going to give it a shot. At what age did you put your kids on the ice?
